Convention 2019
The Guild of Muslim Professionals holds an annual convention during the Christmas period — a gathering that assembles Muslim professionals from various sectors across Nigeria, built around a simple aim: a space where members can learn, brainstorm, and seek solutions to issues pertinent to achieving the mission and vision of the Guild.
The 2019 edition took place on December 25–26 at the Academy Guest House and Events Centre in Ikeja, Lagos, running from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day, organized jointly with the Muslim Public Affairs Centre (MPAC). Participants could choose to stay overnight or attend without lodging.
The convention explored the topic “The World by 2050: How Ready Are We?” Discussion panels addressed Nigeria’s future, education systems, social media influence, artificial intelligence, Islamic identity, and poverty reduction strategies.
Distinguished attendees included Islam Channel founder Mohammad Ali Harrath, Power Minister Arc. Olamilekan Adegbite, former University of Lagos Vice Chancellor Prof. Rahaman Bello, NASFAT president Niyi Yusuf, and Engr. Bayo Adeola of CPMS Ltd.
The two-day program featured numerous speakers, including Mohammed Jega and Professor Taofeeq AbdulAzeez among others, with sessions moderated by Amina Adams, Dr. Ibipo Salami, and Azeez Lawal. Arc. Lateefah Olajide and AbdurRahman Adogie led the organizing effort, supported by corporate partners including MosquePay and Muslim News.
