The GMP Annual Convention is a gathering of Muslim professionals from different fields of endeavour in Nigeria which holds during the Christmas holiday with the objective of creating an ambience conducive for Muslim professionals to learn, brainstorm and seek solutions to issues pertinent to achieving the mission and vision of the Guild.
The 2019 convention was held in collaboration with the Muslim Public Affairs Centre (MPAC) on the 25th and 26th December 2019 at the Academy Guest House and Events Centre, Agidingbi, Ikeja, Lagos (from 9am – 5pm daily). Participants and Guests had the option to either lodge in for the two days or attend the program without lodging.
The theme for the 2019 convention was ‘The World by 2050: How Ready Are We?’ Topics and panel discussions centered on Nigeria, the Education System, Social media, Artificial Intelligence, Islamic Identity and Reversing poverty.
Notable personalities at the convention included Mr. Mohammad Ali Harrath; the founder of Islam Channel, the Honourable Minister for Power and Steel; Arc. Olamilekan Adegbite, Prof. Rahaman Bello; the former Vice Chancellor of University of Lagos, Mr. Niyi Yusuf; the president of NASFAT and Engr. Bayo Adeola of CPMS Ltd.
Speakers at the two-days also included Mohammed Jega, Professor Taofeeq AbdulAzeez, Prof. Musa Aibinu, Mrs. Doyin Jawando-Adebomehin, Mrs Ganiyat Olokodana, Dr. Hameedah Sanni, Ms. Folake Bankole, Mrs Bimpe Afolabi, Mr Babatunde Adegbindin, Dr. Ismail Ibrahim, Prince Sulayman Olagunju, Ustadh Saeed Salman, Barrister Mutiat Orolu-Balogun, Mr. Sulayman Dhikrullah and Mrs Sherifah Yusuf Ajibade.
The sessions were moderated by the captivating trio of Amina Adams, Dr. Ibipo Salami and Azeez Lawal. The organising committee led by Arc. Lateefah Olajide (GMP) and AbdurRahman Adogie (MPAC) coordinated teams from both organizations to deliver an eventful convention.
